Philco 38-8
#1

Found a 38-8 in a junk shop for 30$. Missing all but 2 knobs and the cabinet is in rough shape but probably can be fixed. The shadow meter measures good and the speaker is not damaged. Sometime in the past some one cut off the bottom of a tube shield to fit a newer tube, and spliced on a cord with paper and scotch tape. I am glad i did not plug it in to see if it worked. i was wondering how good one of these sets works when fixed up?

Took a quick look at the diagram and it looks to be a pretty pedestrian set noting fancy but should to be easy to work on and a reasonable player.
