38-116 speaks again!
#1

I got the guts back for my 38-116 Saturday and it is all back together. Good news is: after finding a correct 5X4 rectifier for it today, it sounds really good. The bad news is I made a dumb move and broke the dial glass! Bleah! Didn't even put much pressure on that point, but it broke easily. So, I will need to add that to the parts I need in the future to make the radio complete. It is a bit touchy, the band switch has definite wear and even my buddy said this radio was through a lot and being left in a basically abandoned house for years didn't help it any. Guess the speaker was basically froze when he first tried it. Sounds rather good now that I am getting things more settled in. Icon_biggrin

Those are nice radios Jayce, could you post a picture of your finished one?

I will someday. It's working now, but far from finished. I need a new dial glass, the cabinet redone, replacements for the missing acoustic clarifiers, and parts for the automatic station selector.

I needed a 38-116 glass, and found some thing plastic at a restaurant being demolished. I cut it and it looked just fine. A glass shop should be able to cut a glass replacement.
