What 2 original stains are these?
#1

I"m restoring my early 1936 Philco model 60 and what to make the cabinet look like these 2 color stains. What would you guys think would be the closest stains to match?

Stains were not used for Philco production, toning lacquers were used and are now available from Mohawk ( http://www.mohawk-finishing.com/catalog_browse.asp ) Here's a previous Phorum thread that might be helpful http://philcoradio.com/phorum/showthread...=60B+color . When some of the more experienced folks read your question they will likely have some more specific help for you.

As Bob (klondike98 ) said, you should use Mohawk toning lacquer - you will never get the right "look" from stains.

Also keep in mind the radio in your third photo was refinished improperly - it is too light overall.

Here is what I suggest - Medium Brown Walnut and Perfect Brown, both the "Ultra Classic" (dye) toners from Mohawk.

This illustration might help.

OK thank you Ron, I will post pictures when I get done. Also Ron what should I use to make it nice and shiny after the toner?

Gloss lacquer. Your results will depend on the quality of your filler application. Rubbing out the lacquer is another story. They (the factory) didn't have time to rub them out, but they had the finishing down to an art.
