Bakelite blocks with mica caps
#1

Working on a 60b that has a 8035b block. This has two 110pF mica caps in it.
My question is:
Are these to be replaced just like all of the paper types, or are the mica blocks usually left alone like the regular molded micas are?

If they are like the ones in a 37-116, they are paper not mica.

They are paper types. I replace with Silver Mica types.
That value is available at part suppliers.

I've seen a few 8035 bakelite blocks that actually had mica caps in them, but most have paper caps inside. Of course, you don't know until you remove the innards from the bakelite block shell. As Chuck said, go ahead and replace with new silver mica caps.

Hi All;
I used a pair of 56pf mica caps for each 110pf cap.. I don't know but you might be able to use a 120pf mica cap in each one, If you can't find a 110pf cap..
THANK YOU Marty

Yes, you can use 100 pF, 110 pF, or 120 pF. It is easier to find 100 or 120 pF now as 110 pF is no longer a standard value. The radio will work fine with any of those values.
