Speaking of Vibrators
#1

http://www.ebay.com/itm/221276221546?ssP...1423.l2649

This is a 32V vibrator Brenda found for me in eBay. I have been looking for one to replace the smoked one in my Philco 32 Tombstone.

Although it (above) is a "plug in" type and is quite a bit different than that found in the 32, I believe that I could make it work.

BUT..... Note that vibrator is a 100 CPS model. I have no idea what the HZ output of the original is, and guess I assumed it to be 60 Hz.

Question to all of you: Will this 100 Hz vibrator work (assuming it can be "plumbed" to do so) in my Philco 32

PS- Mike.... I KNOW you were hoping, after seeing the title of this thread, for something naughty. Sorry. I'll try harder next time.

It's been my experience that most vibrators are 110~120 Hz. Don't recall ever seeing a 60Hz unit. In most units using vibrators, transformer space is at a premium.

I think that the one pictured is a synchronous type since it has six pins instead of three or four. This probably won't be an issue since you could omit the second set of contacts. However it likely has the same problems that most NOS vibrators do, if you don't know how it was stored it may have oxidation on the contacts. I would guess that these vibrators on fleabay are some sort of military surplus. The only question is whether someone broiled the vibrator transformer by plugging the radio into a 120 volt mains?
