Motorola 10Y Parts Set
#1

The 2nd of two radios I picked up today for parts. This puppy is hurtin'--suffering from water damage on the bottom. One foot fell off when we put it in the trunk. Round center plastic is cracked. But both sets have all their tubes!

C'mon, only minor surgery needed. Nice set. Good winter projects.

Remarkably little rust on that chassis, considering the amount of water damage to the cabinet. I think even I would give repairing that cabinet a go.
#4

Those sets from what I hear are great players. I never heard one in person though. Hope you keep both your finds together and they play again soon.

Oh my... I know where one of those is sitting and you are tempting me to try and go save it in the near future. Neat looking set from what I can tell from the one I have seen.

No matter where you go, there you are.

Kinda looks like it's drunk. All the trim in front of the speaker is missing. (what there is of the speaker) The guy said he would look around for it and let me know. Another thing I have never done is recone a speaker. You have to remember I am a rank novice, but I can't seem to stop finding these sets. It bothers me to think that they would just get trashed and be gone forever.

The Motorola has a unique look about it. At first I didn't care for it, but it kind of grows on you.

'Tis but a peculiar puppy. It is not disagreeable to the eye, though. Icon_e_biggrin

The dial escutcheon and mechanism seems to be the most appealing feature visually, the rest of the cabinet is quite plain in terms of the veneers chosen, although it looks well constructed. One thing that seems to be missing is the grill bar from in front of the speaker. I noticed that the speaker seems to be housed inside a bass reflex type enclosure so it's probably a decent sounding set. With regard to the speaker It looks like the voice coil and spider is still intact so it would make a good candidate for reconing.

Yes. It would be nice if the PO found its teeth. That radio seems very familiar to me from somewhere...Icon_think
