42-380 Art Deco
#1

Are there any statistics on how many of these were made and where they were marketed?

Where they were marketed? All across the USA. With 103,225 manufactured, it was Philco's top seller for the 1942 season.

One of the prizes in my collection is my Philco 40-180, same Art Deco
cabinet except for the wood panel where the dial scale and knobs sit.
a beautiful surperb performer with an incredible richness of audio.
My other prize is a GE L 750a catalin which my Dad gave to my Mother
before leaving for service in WW II. One of the many GE products my father purchased at the GE Employees Store that was located in major
GE plants.

I just picked up my first antique radio this weekend. It's the 42-380 and it was well worth the 13 hour round trip to Georgia to get it! It inspired me to do some inquiring about the history of Philco Corp, so I ordered this awesome book on Amazon. Then... I find this forum and low and behold, here's the author of that awesome book, Ron Ramirez! It's like I stumbled into the antique radio promised land!

Welcome PT57! I can say that, whether using this Phorum as an archive, or asking questions directly, it is a valuable resource. The group here is a great bunch, very helpful and informative. I highly recommend this YouTube series:

It was recommended by a member here on the Phorum, I checked it out and found the recommendation to be great advice.
