You can also make an adapter to use a 6L6 wired as a triode in place of a 6A3, in each socket.

Thanks for the advice on substituting a 6BX7GT/A for a 6A3. Lucky for me, my tubes are all good. I hope Mike's are as well. Tom

Arran & Tom, Just seen your responses. Thanks Arran for that info. Tom I have not checked the tubes yet but when I picked up the radio the seller had it playing and it was sounding pretty good but did have some low level hum in it. Going to recap and ck. the resistors first. Did look up 6A3 tubes and the prices are pretty high. Since the radio was playing I hope mine are okay.
