Fair price for a 66B
#1

There's a model 66B for sale near me, but I don't really know the value of this specific model. The radio is complete and in decent restorable condition. I know that like any radio value is in the eye of the beholder, but I'd like a baseline price range if someone would be willing to share their experience.

Is it a 66B? A 66MB, or a 66S? Assuming it is a table model and not a console? It's a five tube two band set, sort of an updated Philco 60 with a more useful shortwave band. Generally I would say anywhere from maybe $20 up to $100 depending on condition and cabinet style. I've never owned a 66 but own a 60, a very generic five tube radio, good for what they are but nothing outstanding.

It is a 66B, and yes it is a table model not a console. Like you said, it's a generic five tube radio, nothing special, but I do like the look of it. Thanks for the price range, I appreciate it. What you said confirmed my gut feeling about it.

In my opinion...having the better shortwave band makes the 66 a better radio overall. Still not a hot performer, just like the 60, but the 4.2 to 12 mc SW band is infinitely more useful. I would say $40-125 depending upon condition.

Ron, thanks for the info. I've seen pictures of the radio but haven't seen it in person yet. The seller is asking $110, but I'm thinking I'd be happy at $80 assuming the condition in person matches what I see in the pictures.
