Not sure if I have to rewire....
#1

I am new to the forum, as well as old tube radios. If I read the other posts correctly then am I safe in thinking that I DO NOT need to rewire my 38-5x, 46-131, or 48-460 radios due to the fact that they were made outside the time when the rubber insulation was used?

Just checking before I pull my hair out trying to rewire everything.

Correct...no rubber-covered wiring was used in any of the models you mentioned, save for the AC cords which are probably long gone anyway.

How I happened to get so lucky is a minor miracle. Normally when I start to acquire new hobbies I invariably end up with the one model that doesn't work the same as the rest, or requires something quirky.

I'll count my lucky stars that I dodged that one. Now I just have to make up my replacement cap lists!
