Philco 112X

Just figured I'd add some pictures of a project radio radio that is just about finished, it's a Philco 112X that we are doing for a St. Louis police officer.

This has been a great project with all the Bakelite caps and that monster cap can which turned out to be easy. Now it's on to the Stromberg Carlson 535M.

Looks like you got the colors right. Sadly, something you don't see often (enough).

Here is an original finish for comparison. I just restored the radio and buffed out the cabinet. Good radio. Made some model number tags for them on real gold background.

Hi gang. Not sure what Phlogiston ment by getting the colors right. Dont know if he ment cabinet or grill cloth. Anyway Ronin61 used about 1/8 of a new can of GOOP and some of my clean rags along with about 45 minutes time. The finish you see is original with a good cleaning with Goop. Next Monday either he or I we will apply a coat of " Old English" and call it good. We enjoy these things.

Well that explains why the cabinet colors are correct. I thought that he refinished the cabinet,(because of the shiny residue left from the Goop) which usually end up too light, too dark, red, black, or some combination of these.

Ronin61, Great job. Since I have a SC 535M as well I hope you will document your restoration for the rest of us to enjoy and benefit from your efforts.

Well the 112X is assembled and sounding great, just a few more pictures of the front and the back. Check out that original back panel. Thanks for everyone's advice and encouragement on this project Don and I really appreciate it.
