Will Philco 630 Speaker Fit Philco 620 Cabinet?
#1

I am restoring a Philco 620 chassis only (I don't have the cabinet.) and someone has cut the original field coil from the old speaker frame and substituted a really "funky" PA type speaker. I'd ike to restore it to its original condition. I have spotted a Philco 630 speaker and wonder if it will fit the Philco 620 cabinet. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks and may God bless!

Here is the speaker bulletin that should list both models electrical spec's.
No physical dimensions are given though.

It's not what you don't know that hurts you it's what you know that's not so.

Hi Roger

Short answer: Yes.

Assuming you are referring to tombstones here as opposed to consoles (floor models)...

The 620B originally used an S-14 speaker; the 630B, a K-32. Both have the same electrical specifications; the K-32 has a larger voice coil and larger field coil, which offers improved fidelity over the S-14. Both are 8 inch units, and the bolt holes are the same.

Thanks to both of you! Thanks Ron. Your size info is what I needed! I really appreciate it.
