Philco dial
#1

I am trying to save my original dial on the 70 Baby Grand. It is in the great shape except slightly warped at one edge (55). It is bent out and hitting the chassis slot. What is the correct way of fixing it? I have ruined some of those in the past so do not want to grab a heat gun prior to consulting. Any ideas?

Maybe not a heatgun but maybe hot water and then clamp it and cool?

water might take the print off of the dial some philco dial have water soluble ink.

That can be neatly tried out first. Take a qtip, mousten it and try a little light rubbing, maybe at the very end of the scale. See if it is water souble.

All I know in my 70 even Windex did not do any damage.

The heat gun used ever so lightly did the trick.Once the tip gets in, the rest of the dial slides through the slot nicely. Thankfully, the print is done on the inner side of the dial so no scraping of it will occur.Talking about water soluble ink - I did "excellent job" wiping my Atwater 84 dial and making it quite enigmatic. The print there was outside.

It is a special spy radio, so you could wash of the frequencies and no one ever knows.
