I will have to disassemble part of the base since there is a lot of play in the arch where it meets the bottom molding but I began by Veneering the one trouble spot with donor veneer. This should be a nice less problematic restoration..

Anyone have a good color scheme for this cabinet?

Original only.... Icon_mrgreen

Here's a thread that offers some info on the toners for the 80jr including Ron's thoughts on it.

I got the veneering done and am finishing up the gluing today.
Then I can strip the cabinet.

Geez, man, you are headin' for surgery, take a break!

+1 what Mike (Morzh) said.

An old man I used to work with at a previous job had something he was fond of saying, which is appropriate for this situation: "If you can't use your head, you might as well have an a** (three letter word for derriere) at both ends."

As we say in Russian,

Work made ape into man, but not so it could later become horse.

Hey guys. I'm working on a Philco 60. It's all stripped and ready for finish. The main body arch looks much like the 80 above. Does it need to be grain filled? It's very smooth and doesn't appear to need it. Even the front is quite smooth. Thoughts?

Always start a new topic to get the most replies.

This 80 is also smooth but I will grain fill just in case. It can't hurt and it doesn't take long.

Regards
Kirk
