Hello and welcome to the Phorum. If you look at this page:at Philco Radio. com It looks to be a 660X.
Good luck with it. It looks to be in good shape.

Hmm, that dial glass looks awful close to a 630. Does anyone know if it is the same?
#4

My guess would be the 665X from Spring of 1936

Warren - no, the 665 escutcheon/dial glass is not the same as a 630; it is much taller. Same size as the 116 uses.

Quartermoonpro - Welcome! I see you are in my home town of KCMO. Icon_thumbup Anyway, Raydog is correct - it is a 665X.

The toning on the 665X in the Gallery is too dark; it should be Perfect Brown, not Extra Dark Walnut. I can complain because I did that. Icon_redface Yours is correct.

There is very little difference between a 660 and 665 chassis.

Don't know what model it is but the 660/665 both have a good chassis. Lots of stages (1 rf and 2 IF amps) and the 12watt push/pull audio (triode connected 42's driven by a 42.)
Should really pull'em in with good selectivity and loud with the 12W audio amp.
Looks like a great project!!! GL with it!! I've got it big brother the 660L. Unfortunately I haven't had the time to get it up and running.

Wow, thanks for everyone's help. Is the chevron cloth still available for this model?
Hey Ron, always good to meet another KCMO person. Funny, I have some relatives in Huntington.

Go to Kenny Richmond, "richmonddesigns" on eBay, he sells the cloth.

Just pick the size.

Nice radio cabinet is in great shape. Like morzh said replace the grill cloth and it will show nice, then the electronics stuff begins!

Huntington, Indiana? That's about 175,000 miles NE of here. Okay, 273. NE Indiana just seems to be 175,000 miles away. Icon_wink Now, I live fairly close to Huntingburg, IN...

I was born in KC and we lived there until I was 12 years old, at which time my parents and I moved to western Kentucky, where I finished growing up and lived a good part of my adult life. Only about 14 years ago did I switch to the north side of the Ohio River.

I returned home briefly on Thanksgiving 2010. A brief thread with a link to photos here:
