Philco 71 with an eye tube?
#1

Saw this one on eBay and I know it was brought up that a shadow meter kit was available for the 71, but this one has an eye tube. Philco never used eye tubes did they?

No, that one qualifies only as DAMAGE to the set!

It's not the first time that radio has been listed on Ebay. It seems to pop up every 6 months or so.

This is probably one of those things where the buyer thinks he/she has a rare gem, but discovers shortly after the purchase that the got reamed, and try to bail out of it. I'd hate like the blazes to have to graft a new piece of walnut veneer where that eye tube now sets!

It's not that hard to make a new front panel. I've made a couple of them.

The description says it was found at an estate auction. Why do they always say that? Anyway I'm sure we've seen this one on E way before.
