1933 vintage radio batteries for Philco 38A
#1

I am rebuilding an old 1933 Philco 38A battery powered floor standing radio that requires the following voltages: B+135v, B+67 1/2v, A+2v, C-3v, C-7v and a common A-,B-,C+ lead. What type of battery or batteries were used on this set back in 1933? What type of connections did the battery(ies) have? ie: Fanstock clips, Carr, socket or nurled thumb nuts. Do you know where I can find a picture of the battery(ies)? My goal is to recreate a rechargeable battery pack and wrap it in the same style as was available in 1933. I have a battery eliminator for it but I want it to be as original as possible. The set is very beautiful and deserves it. Any suggestions or options you may know of would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you for your time, Tom

I have just acquired a 38A cathedral radio and would like to know where or if I can obtain the socket for the battery plug on the radio. If I can find the socket, I would connect it to a battery eliminator which has all the necessary A, B and C outputs. To the OP, you said yours is a "floor standing" 38A.. is it a console? if so, does anyone know if Philco made this model in both a console and a table-top (cathedral) form ?

Yes, they did. Some examples of Model 38 consoles...
