Please help identify this Silvertone
#1

I just bought this Silvertone floor model at an antique store but there's no label on it unfortunately. Maybe it disappeared when the brainiac that once owned this painted it black. Who knows? All I know is that it's a seven tube receiver. Any thoughts???

Hard to say. I couldn't locate it in Radio Attic's archives. It seems to be a 45** series. Look here, several sets which seem to have the same chassis.

Thanks. Yes, they're close but no match. Someone today told me it might be a 7181, but I can't find another picture of one to confirm that. All I know is that the chassis has a serial number on it, 7S-1089. Also, the receiver takes these seven tubes: 5Y3, 6C5, 6F6, 6K7, 6K7, 6L7, 6Q7

Concur with it being a model 7181. First looked in Stein's Pre-War Consoles book and did not find a match. Next looked at the tube lineup in the Mallory Radio Encyclopedia which shows the tube lineup to be unique to Sears model 7181.

Excellent, thanks Richard! Anyone got a pic of one out there somewhere? I can't seem to find one anywhere yet on the net.

Hi, I stumbled on this thread while searching around the web looking for info on the radio my wife inherited from her uncle. Turns out I have the very same Silvertone 7181 that you have. It still works, though some restoration is in order--at least it wasn't painted black! I'll post a pic if you're still pursuing this project. Thanks, Josh
