41-623 BOL and radio
#1

Just purchased a 41-623 from the "Bay" for $200, a little pricey, but it is in excellent shape, and I think these are a bit rare since I never see them around and I do not think Philco made too many of them.  This has the BOL tone arm, as well as the broadcast/SW bands which should make it a fun portable to bring back to life.  Let me know what you think.

Thanks,

Whatever you do, don't tell Sam! Icon_eek

But seriously...you can see how many Philco made of this model here. (Link corrected.)

I want photos when you receive it! (Please?) Photos of a set that still has its BOL tone arm would be good. The 41-623 shown in the Gallery had its original arm replaced with one with a crystal cartridge.

It has the original BOL tone arm.  I will be happy to post it next week.  Thanks for the reply.

The record player only unit I bought about a year and a half ago needed more work, the tone arm was broken and the guts were missing, the motor was frozen, but I got it back to life, working great by rebuilding a BOL tone arm with a new cell, light, cover, etc.  This one needs the needle ( at least that is what it says), but I have another tone arm to swap if needed.  I will post both once I complete this one.  How rare are these units?

Ron asked for some photos, these are 2 from the listing:

Thank you, but I can't use those; those are the property of the seller who would have to give his or her permission to use them in the Gallery in order to be in compliance with copyright law.

Well, guess I now know who outbid me within the last 10 minutes of the auction! Icon_lol

Seriously, congratulations on a fine radio / phono combo. Hope it arrives safely.

Hi Ron,

I just posted those to show you the unit.  I will post pics once I get it and clean it up a bit.  In a few weeks.  I will also post the 640 unit, the RP only, which works great now.  Thanks for the request.
