Original or not????
#1

Ok I got this in the mail and i think someone screwed with it.

There is paint splatter on the paper tags so I know it was touched but is the decal right? I have seen gold back and silver back decals.

I just cant figure it out.

Ok, Definitely not original paint but decal may be???

The finish is sprayed over the original and now there is a crack in the grill.

This guy really misrepresented it....

I'm guessing an ebay purchase? If the decal is original I wonder how they painted around it so well.
I do like that style of radio.

I've managed to paint around decals on Bakelite radios in the past, the trick is to very carefully strip around the perimeter of the decal, then very carefully mask over it in the same way with a high quality tape. I would not bother doing this with a decal that is readily available like a Phlilco decal though. That paint job looks terrible, it looks like someone painted it with a roller, with a thick nap.

Repainted. Decal is not original.

Thanks all,

I figured that as you can see the cuts around the decal.

What would be the correct decal for this?

Is it a solid gold rectangle with black lettering like I see online?

Solid silver rectangle with black lettering.

I've never seen an actual set with a gold rectangle.
