How I spent my Saturday afternoon....

....restoring this 1948 model 48-461!

As far as restorations go, this one was fairly easy and pretty straightforward. Resistors and tubes all checked good, so basically, a recap was all it needed to get it singing again. It plays great, too. Once I had the chassis completed, I had it playing several hours while I tackled the cabinet. This is one of those Philcote sets, and thankfully, it was mostly intact. Just requiring a little touch up work where it was chipped. Of course, the finish is full of crazing if you look close, but not much can be done with that. I did repaint the trim and knobs, a rather tedious process. All in all, I'm happy with this one and will more than likely add it to the stable.

Neat lil' radio.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.

The white has a nice contrast with the wood. Looks sharp.
