How To Remove Dial Pointer - 38-12
#1

Could someone give me advice on how to remove the dial pointer on a Philco 38-12? The pointer needs to come off so I can remove and clean smoker residue from the tuning capacitor.

It just pulls off. You may have to twist it back and forth a bit (carefully, while holding the tuning condenser plates fully meshed; that is, closed) but it should just pull off. In case of corrosion, do be careful...

Thanks, Ron. That worked. I was being too careful before.

Nothing wrong with being too careful - that is preferred to the "bull in a china shop" method. Icon_wink Good luck! Icon_thumbup

Thanks, Bob. I originally joined a couple years ago but didn't visit the forum for several months. Then, when I tried to log on, I had forgotten my password and couldn't get a new one because my email address had changed. So...I rejoined.
