Which transitone model is this?

What model is this one, and what would be a reasonable price for one like it? I kind of like the mid-century styling on it. It's a nice chunk of wood.

So what does the stamp on the chassis say?? 42 PT3 striped.

It's an EBay listing and the pictures don't show the stamps.

The cabinet was originally covered in photofinish, and the eBay set has had all of its photofinish stripped off.

p.s. It isn't Mid Century - it's from 1942.

Thanks. That makes me like it a bit less, though. There are two on EBay right now and both have no Photofinish. Both seem way overpriced for an AA5 set without original finish (it IS an AA5, right?).

If you can get it to play well and still like the naked look then it is a good little set.

I DO like the naked, blonde wood look (that and the lines made me think "mid-century"), but the two on EBay right now are going for $89 and $125. I think I will wait for a more reasonably priced one.

 In my opinion I would NOT pay anymore then maybe $20-25 for an electrically unrestored one with a good original finish, I wouldn't pay more then maybe $10 for a stripped and varnished one like the one shown. I don't really find them that attractive, with or without the Philcote faux finish, they are just uninspired looking.

You know what a good alternative might be? A PT 7. Similar style but no faux finish to contend with at all.
Fairly simple case to work on and done right they can look great. One of my first Philcos and I still use it often.
And they can be found for not a lot of $

...except when it comes to shipping Bakelite...if it is some typical eBay dummy who thinks that "proper packing" is a few sheets of newspaper wrapped around a fragile radio, and then the whole thing shoved into a too-small box, or a too-large box that lets the radio bounce around inside...
