1930's Baby Grand console (not Philco)

I just bought this tiny console. It's 30 x 15 x 12 inches. I've never seen one. Has anyone here seen one of these before? I'm guessing 1936-1938. Kinda the same shape as a Philco 38-116, just infinitely smaller.... Sorry the pics are so bad. That's all I have until it gets here.

Hmm, odd little offbrand radio kinda like my little Air Queen. Maybe some sort of kids radio?

I seem to recall someone posting one of these before on the alternative forum, I think that it was a mid to late 1930s attempt at a consolette. My guess is that these were made by one of the Chicago independents, or were made by a small regional company with off the shelf parts, given the fairly generic looking chassis, though at least it's a transformer set with a Utah speaker, if the speaker is not a replacement.

Any chance there are pictures of this radio out there in the world? It looks like there's something missing at the bottom of the dial escutcheon.

We see these child sized consoles from time to time. I think there is a battery powered Sentinel for sale now on Ebay
The Sentinel (but I like the styling on yours better) and yours is conventionally powered

Thanks for all the info, guys! I've sent a message to the seller of that radio last year on eBay to see if he might have the pictures still in his files. I could probably make that piece missing on the escutcheon, if I can see a close-up. I know this isn't a fancy radio, but the size has me intrigued.

I know who that seller is from all of his Ebay sales and my sense is if he can help you Ill bet he does. Some of the members at the other forum have picked up stuff in person from the guy and he struck them as a pretty good guy. Good luck with pics. If not there are two guys that were members at the other place that had/have the same model (search model #) and they may have pics as well/

Well, It arrived recently and I'm very happy I bought it! It totally looks like a Munchkin radio! See the pic of it next to my 38-610. It's a nice solid cabinet and the radio only seems to be missing a small triangular piece at the bottom of the escutcheon. I have a lead on a parts radio, so that may fix itself. The light spots on the middle front edges of the cabinet sides are just finish loss, not bad wood, like I had worried about.... The knobs look like the ones on my AK 80, just smaller. Any thoughts on them?

I happened to notice this today while looking for something else. I didnt realize they were also sold as Aircastle..so maybe as you search for parts... something to keep in mind. Like the dial bezel etc(maybe the same size)

Interesting! That one seems to have a slightly larger dial, than the Baby Grand that I have. I'm hoping that the parts radio, I'm supposed to get this spring has the escutcheon on it still. We'll see....
