Philco 66 Bleeding Stations
#1

My Philco 66 has a problem to the low side of 70 kc. At about 640 kc I pick up a station from about 15.30 kc loud and clear. I have aligned the radio but still get the same thing. There is no static in the tuning capacitor. Any ideas would be appreciated !!

Do you live near 'BAL's tower??

Hi. I've lived in Baltimore all my life. I now live in the county, USA.  I believe you are referring to the Baltimore Tower in the United Kingdom.

First thing I would do is verify the local oscillator frequency. Got a counter?

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually I was referring to WBAL in Balt. Lived 32yrs in MD myself about halfway between Balt and Wash. Are you receiving normally as you would as a good working set?? Is this bleeding issue the only tuning problem??
You can listen for the oscillator in another receiver at 460kc above the dial frequency.

Thankyou for the kind words sir. I double checked it with my component tester and it read 2.7 ohms at .02mH.Stormlord5500 — 08:14 AM
