Thank you all very much. Let me ask how did you know it was a y2 rated capacitor?

Deduction my dear Watson. There's only two .006 caps in the set. One is the ac line bypass (this one is the Y2 cap) and the other is the plate bypass for the 41 tube. That one is fine with a regular 630v mylar.

Gotcha. Reading the info from Bob and with your deduction Mr. Holmes it makes sense. I will assume it is ok to ask another question in this thread. Now on to " A Study in Scarlet".
I have replaced the capacitors, learned to solder, have begun to make sense of schematics, replaced what I believe is #23 on schematic (70 0hms, 1/2 watt resistor) and had to replace the power transformer wires (I can see you frowning.)  The dim bulb tester worked as described, however I have no sound whatsoever from speaker, no static, nothing.
I was given this radio 40 years ago and it worked until about 5 years ago when one of the grandkids knocked it off the table, broke two tubes and put a large hole in speaker. Today is first time its been turned on since then.
Finally, the question is.......... any ideas on why the lack of sound?

Other than the obvious fact that Ive been working on it, that is.

Thanks,
Dave
