Not terribly difficult. Have you attempted to rebuild bakelite block caps before? If not, read this page at Chuck's site:

I have a good grip on replacing the electrolytics, but is it mandatory or recommended to replace the resistors too?

Not mandatory. But do check each resistor, and replace if it is not within 20% of specified value.

What would be the approximate cost to recap the model 70?

If you are replacing paper and electrolytic capacitors only, maybe $10-20.

Also, Would it be advisable to open up the power transformer for visual inspection or would this be total folley?

No reason to do so unless you suspect the original has been stressed in the past (overloaded, wax leaking from the bottom and/or all over the chassis)

I finally have a spot cleared to attempt the restoration, but am leary as to whether I should try it or farm it out to the professionals If I do attempt it, I will be sure to put up plenty of pictures, so you all can get a good laugh at the very least!
