Well I'm happy to report the 38-5 is alive and well and singing as she should. Turns out it was the #42 cap. It was in the right place, but it didn't have a good ground connection. Once that was resoldered, it behaved again. I cannot thank Terry (Radioroslyn) enough for his help on this and so many other projects. He spent the good part of an evening on speaker phone with my dad and I trying to sort this out and the #42 cap was one of the first components he suggested checking. Terry's vast knowledge is equaled only to his vast patience. He is a true gentleman and we are so lucky to have him with us on the Phorum. Hat's off to you, my friend. Thanks again.
