Russ (Phlogiston) and Bob have given you good advice, Tom. As Bob said, without a good color photo of an original 40-158, it's hard to tell if the white wood trim (the grille bars and molding above the speaker opening, and the bottom trim) were toned darker, or not.
I just looked online and found a photo of an original but rough 40-158, and it appears that it was a single color after all. Bob's suggestion of Mohawk Ultra Classic Medium Brown Walnut is a good one. An alternative is Mohawk Medium Walnut Tone Finish, which does not have as much pigment as Mohawk's other Tone Finish colors but will still turn into paint (hides the grain of the wood) if too many coats are applied.
