The old Patrolman was a good radio. I had one and used to listen to Jean Shepherd on WOR out of New York when I was a kid in Providence. Actually, though, there are some great portable radios being made today. Recently I bought a Tecsun PL-600 for less than $60 brand new with free shipping, It is a great little radio that runs rings around that old Patrolman of my youth, with dual conversion, a tunable BFO for SSB and CW, PLL digital tuning that can be either done by a knob, or directly entered, and continuous coverage from 100KC to 29.999MC. It also receives FM stereo which you can hear with headphones or using an external amplifier since it only has one speaker. Here are the specs: https://www.radiomasterlist.com/en/tecsun-pl-600.html
