From the little I have done with record players you should be safe taking the entire unit out to service it. Not sure how your player is mounted. Mine were small spacer bolts mounted with springs between the cabinet and the player. Removal is no issue, but disassembly will usually require re-alignment as MrFix55 mentioned.
