3650 beast of a tombstone!
#16

I haven't fired it up for a while but I remember being able to touch the tubes in my Radiola 17, including the 80. Granted, they are the globe style, so the bulb is somewhat removed from the business parts. The 16 actually does use a 5Z3, but the 3650 with its dual triode connected 42 AB2 PP Amp with 42 Triode Driver does use an 80. In class A, I think that the total plate and screen current for one 42 / 6F6 is about 50 mA. As for max current, If you have 2 42s in pentode AB2, that's 62mA Plate current total for both tubes, but that is for idle. I dunno what the full tilt boogie current is. A Class A 42 Pentode is 50mA. Figure 10mA each for all "signal" tubes (Converter, IF, RF, etc., so, yeah, they really are pushing the 80. Wonder why the 3650 used an 80 but the 16 uses a 5Z3?
