I was kinda tongue in cheek with this one
But I do remember people complaining about 71A getting up in price, in some places being offered to $100 (not that I even would go for that kind of price).
Plus there was a fad (I hope, short-lived) building low power triode Class A stereo amps, using ... 71A. Maybe that affected the price too. No, of course it is not worth $100.
