I picked up a nice set of KLH 20 speakers ca 1980, for $40, and a Telefunken 5083W "Allegro" AM FM SW radio, also for $40.00 from a local St. Vincent DePaul thrift shop. Not only a great price, but a great cause. Unfortunately, they don't get a lot of this, so it is hit or miss. I turned down a really nice Fisher console stereo phono due to not having any room for it. SVDP has a great pricing scheme. They price it, showing the price now, next week, week 3, week 4 and final price. You determine how much you are willing to pay vs risk of losing it to another customer.
My sister volunteers at a SVDP shop in a rather tony area in NJ. They get a lot of Lenox chinaware donated to them. Unfortunately, my sister is addicted to Lenox, so this is like a crack house to her.
