Just got a 49-1613 need to know...everything!
#5

My 46-1213 is not that different, both outside and inside.
I am not sure if you have vertical chassis, might be a normal horizontal, which would make the repair a bit less inconvenient.
The radio sounds nice. Not GRREAT! Just nice. Like any tube radio with a reasonable size speaker would.

As Chas has noted, a newer turntable could be installed; in mine it was already, a VoM piece. It did not match the input, which is supposed to be a magnetic pickup, so some tricks had to be played.

These radios have charm, but the specific models you and I have are not super-valuable, they are just that - survivours, that might be brought back to working condition and be a conversational piece and a soul-warmer.
There are a few from that era that are more valuable; one was referenced today here in "for sale online", a Sheraton from 1948. But that is a 15-tuber with a coaxial speaker.

Yours seems to be in nice shape, not requiring anything serious on the cabinet other than some "Pledge" or "Old English". And I saw nice Technics HiFi turntables yesterday on an auction gone for $20. With cartridges.

So, your call.

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.
