I wonder if trisodium phosphate has any antiseptic qualities, it's very good at removing crud and oxidation from some metals, particularly aluminum? Another one someone suggested to me today was hydrogen peroxide, but that stuff tends to bleach certain materials, particularly natural ones like hair.
