Does the "Chattering occur on all stations? Between stations? Does the chattering noise increase with increasing the volume control or remain the same?
Do you receive the same noise on any other radio, particularly one that does not have a ferrite loopstick antenna?
Have you recapped the radio, other than the electrolytics?
There is a phenomenon called "motorboating". This can be caused by a number of things including missing or bad B+ and cathode (filament)bypass capacitors, missing or bad AVC Cap C401 or bad negative to chassis coupling cap C402. Recap the set if you have not done so.
