Yes, other than takin a toll on your back, they are undeed way more repair friendly than many other Philcos.
To me, some of the best repair-friendly radios are Philco 20. Tons of space, no oscillator, so the RF coils are simple. The can, of course is a pain, but then removing it is easy.
