Thanks Arran and MrFixer55 for your input regarding my post. I think I will just fix the on/off flag in place so that it doesn't interfere with the dial pointer as it moves across the middle of the dial. I believe I will use an amber LED on each end of the dial scale to light the dial instead of trying to make some kind of repair to get the flag to work. With a power supply and a lighted dial the flag is of little importance anyway. It was interesting to note how many years these radios were in use after WW2. Although rural electrification was in place in most areas that there were still isolated areas that still depended on battery radios.
