Hi Marion,

Great solution to the problem. Of course, they did not have LEDs "back in the day". Just test first to make sure that they do not make noise. I have quite a few battery radios. Some have no indication, some have a flag mechanism similar in purpose to the one on your set.

My RCA 14BT2 Farm Set actually has a little neon bulb that flashes to inform you that the radio is still on.
