You may be surprised, but instead of the rare and expensive 1L6 tube, all Trancoceanic models can use a regular 1R5 tube.
This is really interesting, since the internal architecture of these tubes is very different: 1L6 is a pentagrid, 1R5 is a heptode with different grid pinouts and their functional purpose.
But in fact, instead of 1L6, 1R5 works correctly. Perhaps there is one limitation - decreased sensitivity in the upper part of the SW range, at frequencies above 9-12 MHz.
But this is not critical, since this range is now almost empty.
