Well the electronic restoration, cabinet re-glue and cleaning are complete. The radio performs flawlessly and the cabinet looks as good as possible without a complete refinish, however I’m not happy with the grille cloth installation. It fought me all the way.
The cloth is very hard to work with and doesn’t stay tight after the glue dried. I’m not sure if the cardboard form is not thick enough, or my gluing technique was bad. I used white glue on a new cardboard form as the old one was pretty beat up.
I’m willing to start over with a new piece of cloth, but I need some pointers from the experts. Please let me know your suggestions.
