I tracked the hum to a couple bad tubes (China), so put in Russian and US tubes and took care of that. Worst problem is really the lackluster sound quality. Power is strong but it's seems a little flat or something. I really have noted that after listening to my recent builds and know there's a lot of really good sounding amps using the 6V6/BQ5 family of tubes, so gonna connect a good quality of transformer and take a listen. Thanks for the insight MrFix! I may end up pulling the PC board and hand wire it for BQs and see how things sound. Part of the adventure ya know!
