Yup S-38 alright. It's missing it's back cover which may be kinda important. The chassis and cabinet are insulated from each other because the chassis poses a shock hazard. When servicing it do use an isolation transformer between it and the wall socket. I've worked on a few of them and their old siblings the Echophone EC-1 and the Hailcrafters S-41.

Vol 1-50 admiring the old set and trying to
figure out what all those squiggly meant.
