I've got a Morse Electrophonic that was gifted to me that I will have to dig into, it works but has somewhat impaired performance likely due to the five decade old electrolytics, especially in the gain of the radio tuner portion, but the set sounds pretty decent for what it is. Unlike some later Morse products most of the cabinet is made out of wood.
We tend to label people like that "Audiphools" around here, because they will spend copious amounts of money on snake oil products, chasing the "perfect sound". I figure if you have the space, didn't have to spend too much on it, and you like it, why not fix it up? People recap pocket transistor radios all they time, and they sound tinny, small low voltage electrolytics are pretty cheap. That being said it's only worth doing if you can do the work yourself, I would not pay someone else to do it.
