Aw'rite!
Well, let's just say that I created some of my own problems.
One thing is, (I am blushing saying that) the AI deceived me. While I gave it the Philips P/N for the motor (oh...didn't I tell you? I decided to replace the motor), it translated it into those Mabuchi numbers and when I question it, it insisted.
And I was lazy enough to open that thing and to just use calipers.
The motors are too large. But these $20 I spent (bought two motors, one is Chinese-made, the other is old Malaysian, both work fine) served me well: when I open the unit and re-examined the situation, I realized the motor is slipping inside he belt. And the PRB 4.9" belt was the recommended one.
Luckily! 5 years ago when I did that I suspected I might have the problem (which I did, but it did not manifest immediately and I then went in the wrong direction) I bought two belts, a 4.9" amd 4.6".
Today I took the 4.6" belt and inserted it in (easy, slips between the pulley and the cogwheel), and it worked like a charm. And, judging by the force it pushed my hand with, -5V would do it as well, but I will leave it at -6V.
Well...I hope this is it!

People who do not drink, do not smoke, do not eat red meat will one day feel really stupid lying there and dying from nothing.
