My Philco 39-25
#9

Thanks guys. I am not a fan of cabinet refinishing at all. I had the chassis done on my 37-116 for 10 years before I finally refinished the cabinet just because I had to force myself into doing it. I did give this radio the goop treatment and it cleaned up nicely but it was too dark for my liking. The speaker had a couple holes in it which I patched but the sound was garbled and distorted and clipping in a different one revealed it was the speaker and not the radio. With paying for shipping both ways and the reconing itself it was around $70. A lot for a 6” speaker but glad I did it. As radiorich said it’s the enjoyment of the hobby, not what I could get if I ever sold them. For my next project I might give recapping a transistor Channel Master radio. Only reason I bought it was it is the same portable radio mom had when I was growing up and I remember using it a lot. Not looking forward to working on a small set with a PCB but it will be something different.
