Something missing from this 46-1209 tuning shaft
#2

I have a 47-1230 - VERY similar model to the 46-1209.
here are some pictures of the shaft how it is on my chassis:

sorry about poor quality; none of these pictures were taken with the intention of focusing on the shaft. We can still see there's supposed to be a gear there.

Look in the cabinet to see if maybe it fell but is still present somewhere?

I am uncertain how to fix it; you would need a suitable gear, or a shaft assembly, or a tuning cap. These radios were pretty solid and most ones I saw were complete/working or restorable. Being console in format they don't sell too high; finding a replacement part for this might be more problematic than a whole set. I am thinking a suitable gear is more easily obtainable. Others might chime in with more viable solutions.

There was a 47-1230 chassis on ebay lately; I wonder who got it. I was interested in "spares" in general... Its tuning cap assembly would be a valid replacement for the 1209, I assume.

No, it's not a problem, just during certain condition it could show up. Yes, an internal tube short could do that too. ...morzh — 09:13 AM
