I have a larger pill bottle with heat sink grease that someone gave me years ago, and also a small jar that came from the estate of a TV repairman. I'm not sure what is in the jar, I will have to find it, but the pill bottle has about three tablespoons of the white grease variety. In parting out old equipment I've run into a compound that looks like blue or red bathtub caulk so I assume that was silicone based. I've heard that was the failing point in some video game consoles, they skimped on the heat sink compound and the chips ran too hot.
