Finally I am satisfied with the color of the veneer patches! I did as I said I would do—I masked off the surrounding areas, I stripped them, reapplied the dye and stain, and then finished as I did for the rest of the cabinet. Though the splice lines are a bit dark, the color of the patches is spot on.
